Cranes and geese in New Mexico over columns.

The festival of the cranes in the Bosque del Apache national wildlife refuge.
Up to 15000 sandhill cranes and 30000 geese spend the winter there. Every morning, the birds literally fill the sky as they fly from the marshes to the nearby corn fields managed by the refuge.
The refuge is struggling to carry on with its program following budget cuts by the Bush administration.

The species homo-pedestrianus is close to extinction throughout the USA, and particularly in this small town of New Mexico: Socorro. Its habitat has been largely taken over by homo-dumbus-bigSUVus.

Pre-SUV vehicles have been judged far too economical/environment-friendly and are left to rot.
